Sound Systems

Choosing the type of sound system you will need depends on a number  of factors, such as the audience size and venue layout. For smaller events, a few tactically placed active speakers will be a cost effective yet professional solution. For larger scale events we most commonly supply a ground stacked or flown line array.

Line array sound systems allow us to direct the sound across the audience effectively for consistent sound levels and high quality audio. We also consider ambient noise levels and venue acoustics when looking at sound system design as it is paramount that every member of the audience can hear the presentation.

Microphones

Depending on the type of event you might choose to hire wired or wireless microphones. Wired microphones are the most reliable and suitable solution when the presenter is stood at a lectern or sat at a table. In situations where the presenter needs the freedom to walk around on stage and use their hands, wireless microphones are the best solution.

Wireless microphones come in three general formats, handheld, lapel and headset. Handheld requires the user to hold it and is the usual solution for live events. Headset mics are often the choice for live situations and are commonly used in theatre or for presentations. Lapel microphones are preferred for recording or broadcast solutions.

Mixing Desks

A mixing desk is an electronic device that combines, mixes, and changes the levels and dynamics of different audio signals. It also helps to bring together different instruments and parts of sounds.

In live events, mixing desks will help elevate the most modest of sound systems, like a microphone and speakers set up and allows for a more complex and interactive event.

Digital mixers allow for a wide variety of features to produce better automation of sound control and you can also capture optimised digitally processed audio.

In analogue mixers, you have a traditional and intuitive set up that is much more easy to utilise and use, however is less powerful and has less features than its digital counterpart.

Amplifiers

An amplifier is the crucial device that turns the low voltage signals from your source equipment into a signal with enough gain to be used to power a pair of speakers. An amplifier takes an input signal from a source, such as a laptop or turntable and creates a larger copy of the original signal before its sent to the speakers.

Depending on the type of event, along with the size and scale of your event will determine what amplifier equipment you will require for maximum quality and impact. We stock a wide range of amplifiers and other sound equipment to make your event a success.

We stock a wide range of PA systems, wireless microphones, conference microphones and push to talk microphones as well as the latest mixing desks and sound control software.
