Civil Service Fast Stream

Civil Service Fast Stream Base

Camp Venue: Hilton Birmingham Metropole

Stakeholders: Capital Training , KPMG & The Cabinet Office.

Since 2018, Hire Frequencies has been the appointed AV supplier for the twice-yearly training events delivered for Civil Service Fast Stream staff. The event brings in staff from all over the UK to a large hotel event space – which has rotated between the Radisson Blu Heathrow, Manchester Midland and most recently the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotels.

The events are facilitated by KPMG and the Civil  Service. This conference-style training event spans across a main plenary room, seating up to four hundred delegates, along with eight breakout rooms. Each space requires technical crew and equipment. A number of high profile speakers have given talks over the years – including the the head of the Civil Service at the time, John Manzoni.

Plenary Room The plenary room comprises a large triple-aperture set, with two main screens complemented by a smaller central screen designated for event branding. Eight relay screens are positioned around the room, with independent video feeds for maximum flexibility. A large comfort monitor displaying slide present view, along with countdown timers are provided. As facilitators, delegates & speakers were travelling in from all parts of the UK, the

plenary room PPU rack ad the capability to steam out to a remote audience, and also dial in remote contributors. In the 2022 editions of the Fast Stream Base Camp, we dialled in a live sketch artist and also sent a relay feed to facilitator teams who delivered the virtual training, but were not able to attend in-person. The flexibility we have built in to our racks mean we can handle almost any eventuality.
