Royal Hospital Chelsea Founders Day
Founder’s Day is the highlight of the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s calendar, an event attended by all Chelsea Pensioners, which celebrates the founding of the Royal Hospital by King Charles II. The event has taken place almost every year since the Royal Hospital opened in 1692. We celebrated the history of this very British ceremony providing comprehensive a sound system to cover the Figure Court.

After last year cancellation, Founder’s Day finally returned, bearing all the hallmarks of this traditional celebration. They were honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester who carried out the duties of Reviewing Officer for the day and was accompanied by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester. Also present was Leo Docherty MP, Minister for Defence People and Veterans and The Worshipful the Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Hire Frequencies had the pleasure to work again at The Royal Hospital Chelsea’s Founder’s Day, also known as Oak Apple Day. For this event we supplied a combination of d&b AudioTechnik, line array and point source speakers with Sennheiser Wireless mics.

For the main event, a PA system consisting of four mini line arrays was mounted along the roof of the colonnade – to project out over the courtyard. A number of breakout areas were located around the hospital for overflow – the main feed was routed digitally to each additional space.
