Planning a Fashion Show

When it comes to planning a fashion show, delegating any given task to the right person is key to avoiding last minute chaos and ensuring the smooth running of the event. Here at Hire Frequencies, you can count on a production team with over a decade of experience in planning all sorts of events for a wide range of clients.

Over the years we’ve had the pleasure of curating the technical side of dozens of fashion shows such as Africa Fashion Week; who’ve now chosen us for 4 consecutive years. What really counts in a fashion show is the moment when the first model steps on the catwalk; all the stress accumulated during the planning stages gets repaid by the gratification of seeing an artistic vision come to life.

The attendees are completely unaware of the months of planning that went into organising the show, instead they’re completely mesmerised by the designs, the colors, lights, music and atmosphere of a professionally curated show.

Let us take you through 4 key factors to keep in mind when organising a fashion show.

Visual tools such as lights, projections, backdrops, haze and stage graphics are there to complement the artistic vision of the designer.

Outstanding visuals should accompany and enhance the aesthetics of a fashion show without getting in the way. During the quoting stages, our team will make sure to fully understand your visual requirements and work with you to deliver a truly captivating show.

By using our wide range of lighting solutions, you’ll be able to bring your vision to life no matter how ambitious it might be.

Truss and rigging will allow you to position fixtures almost anywhere.
Consider placing a camera at the end of the catwalk and a few screens around the room for all the attendees to have an optimal view of what’s going on.

4. Layout

From the early planning stages, it’s useful to have a clear idea of where all the elements mentioned above are going to be placed in the room. Think about the audience and what kind of view you’d like them to have.

Consider the number of attendees and whether you’re planning to have a VIP area separated from the rest of the spectators. Same goes for the press. Photographers will usually prefer a frontal view of the catwalk and for it to be lit from their point of view.

This will influence the placement of the lights and would probably require a closed off section at the end of the catwalk. Projectors can be used for company logos, pre recorded content or artistic visuals onto walls and screens.

Our range of projectors and lenses allows a great deal of flexibility with regards to image size and distance from the projection area.
